Park Land Paid For - Mayor Wendell E. Hulcher (right) presents a $319,634 check to Earl Cress of the Ann Arbor Trust Co. as payment for the Graves estate on Huron River Drive at Bird Road. Others attending the presentation are (left to right) Joseph Hooper Sr., attorney for the Graves estate, Mrs. Pearl Manning, secretary at Ann Arbor Trust, and City Administrator Guy C. Larcom Jr. Purchase of the 116-acre parcel, which will be used for park land, culminates years of negotiations. Funds for the purchase come from the $1 million park land and acquisition bond issue approved by voters two years ago. The city will seek federal matching funds on the purchase. Ann Arbor Trust Co. is executor for the Graves estate.
