Junior High Nearing Completion: Ypsilanti's West Junior High School, located on N. Mansfield St. just outside the city limits, is expected to be completed by August 1. Most of the roofing has been completed, and masonry work is expected to be finished this week. A millage proposal approved yesterday assures that the school can be opened this fall. This air view looks northeast, toward the intersection of Mansfield with Grant and Pearl Sts. (top right).

New School Progress: Construction work is rising above ground level on a new $1,500,000 junior high school to serve the western half of the Ypsilanti School District. The school, located in Ypsilanti township, will face N. Mansfield Ave. between Pearl and Grant Sts. Construction of a similar junior high to serve the eastern portion of the district is scheduled to get under way this fall at a site northwest of Tyler Rd. and Emerick St. The west side school is expected to be completed in about a year.
