In this episode, AADL Talks To John Metzger, third-generation owner of Metzger's Restaurant at 305 N Zeeb Rd. John walks us through the history of his family's restaurant, from its origin 90 years ago on Washington Street in Ann Arbor, and discusses what's changed - and what's remained the same - over the years as the business passed from his grandfather to his father to John. He also shares his memories of growing up in the restaurant; his efforts, along with his sister Heidi, to reopen at a new location on the west side of town after closing the downtown location; and he talks about the employees and customers that have kept the business a thriving enterprise for nearly a century.

WING SCOUTS TAKE TO THE AIR: Six members of Ann Arbor Wing Scout Troop No. 7 took introductory plane rides over the city Saturday from the Ann Arbor Airport. The troop, a branch of the Girl Scouts interested primarily in aviation, calls itself the "Lucky Seven" Troop. Left to right, the troop members are Pat McFarland, 209 Pleasant Pl.; Ruthie Metzger, 1920 Dexter Ave.; Karen Overbeck, 212 Pleasant Pl.; Gail Kaiser, 1219 Elder Blvd.; Nancy Travis, 1809 Dexter Ave.; and Margie Hume, 812 Brown St. Troop leader is Mrs. Veda MacNabb. Saturday's half-hour flights (three scouts at a time) were piloted by Edward Kaiser.

Although their wedding was an event of Feb. 18, Walter Metzger and his bride, the former Ruth Ebinger, are just now seeing many of their wedding gifts. They arrived by plane this week from Germany, where they were married in the bride's home town, Erbstetten, in the American zone. Mr. Metzger met his bride when visiting relatives in Germany last summer.
