A. J. Simpson, shackled and surrounded by armed guards, was taken to Jackson prison Wednesday to begin serving a life prison sentence for the murder nine years ago of deputy Frank Crampton. Simpson was convicted of first-degree murder last Friday by a circuit court jury that spent eight hours of deliberation spread over 2 1/2 days.
