Wars Drive Millions From Home
Wars Drive Millions From Home
One of the biggest heartaches and headaches caused by the present European wars is the growing refugee problem, for upwards of 3,000,000 persons already have been driven from their homes— and more may follow.
Besides the tens of thousands forced to evacuate their homes in the actual fighting areas, even more thousands have fled from cities to the country for greater safety against air raids in Great Britain, France, Finland and some of the neutral nations.
Hundreds of thousands have been forced to leave their homes by political developments, such as the Nazis’ persecution of Jews in Germany, the division of Poland between Russia and Germany and the recall by Hitler of Germans living in the Baltic states, Italy and the Balkans.
This flood of refugees, continuing that started by the World war, is shown graphically in the 22nd of a series of special war maps which will be printed in The Ann Arbor News tomorrow, along with an article discussing the situation and its problems.
