Winner of a "movie queen" contest, Mary Anderson, 20-year-old blonde, of 1928 Martin Pl., will play the leading feminine role in the all-Ann Arbor motion picture, "We're In the Movies."
Selection of Miss Anderson as the winner of the contest was announced today by F. C. Moseley, chairman of the Junior Chamber of Commerce committee handling arrangements for the movie. Names of the other local adults and children selected for parts in the picture also were announced.
Herbert A. Goetz, 705 W. Davis St., manager of the Athens Press, has been assigned the leading male part; while Casey M. Carter, 556 S. State St. - a senior at the University who came to Ann Arbor from Hollywood, Calif., to break into the movies - will have the second-male lead.

Miss Anderson, daughter of Mr. Sidney S. Anderson, was selected for the leading female role from a group of about 25 girls who were entered in the movie queen contest. Judges were Miss Florence Strauch, director of the film; Walter Murray, Robert Duval and J. A. McMillan of the Junior Chamber.
A sophomore at the University, though not in school this semester, Miss Anderson played the female lead in the University High school senior play in 1938, after moving here from Windsor, Ont., three years ago.
"Thrilled" at the chance to appear in the movie, Miss Anderson says she plans to major in dramatics, hoping some day to become a stage actress - reversing the usual procedure and using the movies as a stepping stone to the stage.
In the film, which is being made by the John B. Rogers Producing Co. of Fostoria, O., Mary Anderson should feel right at home. She will play the part of Mary, who wins a "Hollywood movie queen contest" and falls in love with a famous director.
Plays Role of Director
Mr. Goetz, who is a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, will take the part of Gary Owens, the Hollywood director who conducts the contest; while Mr. Carter, who had the male lead in the recent Michigan Union Opera, will appear as Joe, Mary's boy friend.
Another University student, Thomas McG. Goodwin, a freshman from Niagara Falls, N. Y., who lives in Wenley House, will
