William Kappler,
Meat Packer, Dies
Long Illness Fatal To
Well-Known Farmer
William H. Kappler, 78, president of the Kappler Packing Co. and prominent Ann Arbor township farmer, died Saturday afternoon after a long illness. His home was at 3351 Pontiac Trail.
Mr. Kappler was born Feb. 28, 1870, in Omaha, Neb., a son of Martin J. and Katherine Kappler. He came to Ann Arbor township 44 years ago.
He founded the packing company at 3356 Pontiac Trail in 1929. On Dec. 22, 1897, Mr. Kappler was married to the former Henrietta McAllister, who died April 1, 1946.
Mr. Kappler is survived by one son, William J.; three daughters, Mrs. Clara R. Greiner, Mrs. Ray F. Wurster, and Mrs. Katherine I. Staebler; and one brother, Martin J. Kappler, all of Ann Arbor.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon at the Muehlig Chapel, Rev. C. H. Loucks officiating. Burial will be made in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
