YPSILANTI - Robert E. Burnette, 64, died at 2:30 a.m. yesterday at the home of his son at 9761 Woodland Ct.
Born March 26, 1889, in Benton, Tenn., he was a son of James E. and Sarah Brady Burnette.
On Feb. 14, 1905, he married Sarah V. Lillard, who survives, in Benton.
The couple moved in 1928 to Newport, Mich., where he was employed by the Ford Motor Co. for 17 years. He retired in 1945 and had lived here with his son, John, for the past six years.
Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Mrs. H. A. Smith of Big Beaver, Miss Etta I. Burnette of Providence, R. I., Mrs. Paul Burlingame of Ypsilanti and Mrs. W. J. Smith of Detroit; three sons, Audie D. and John D. of Ypsilanti and Olen E. of Detroit; three sisters, Mrs. Lou Shelton of Pickton, Tenn., Mrs. Hester Ward of Benton, Tenn., Mrs. Onie Taylor of Wayne; a brother, Jewel Burnette of Benton, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Four children preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Geer Funeral Home, the Rev. Harold Engel officiating. Burial will follow in Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. Friends may call at the funeral home.
