One of the first signs that the westward expansion of Packard has become a reality with the razing of this turn-of-the-century house on the west side of S. Main at the present foot of Packard. The house was built by merchant Philip Bach - after whom a local elementary school is named - but has not served as a private home for years, having served as one of the first local fraternity houses, later as the sales office of the former Staebler-Kempf Oil Co., and most recently as a foreign car garage and showroom. Old gasoline pumps may be seen in the foreground.
