SCRIMMAGE WRAPS UP M DRILLS HERE

By Wayne DeNeff

A chilly two-hour practice yesterday, which included 45 minutes of scrimmage, completed Michigan’s home drills for the Jan. 1 Rose Bowl game against Southern California.

A 50-man squad will leave Metropolitan Airport at 1:30 p.m. Thursday for Pasadena where the Wolverines will start practice on Friday with two-a-day workouts.

The Big Ten co-champs will be packing their blue jersies because they’ve been designated as the home team to start a new decade of Rose Bowl games.

First semester final examinations will start tomorrow for the Wolverines and no practice is scheduled during that time.

Michigan today released a Rose Bowl depth chart and it included, on offense, ends Jim Mandich, Mike Hankwitz, Bill Harris, Mike Oldham and Paul Staroba; tackles Dan Dierdorf, Jim Brandstatter, Jack Harpring and Werner Hall; guards Bob Baumgartner, Reggie McKenzie, Dick Caldarazzo and Frank Titas, centers Guy Murdock, Tim Killian and Pete Sarantos; quarterbacks Don Moorhead, Jim Betts and Bill Beruti; running backs Bill Taylor, Glenn Doughty and Lance Scheffler; fullbacks Garvie Craw, Fritz Seyferth and Eric Federico, and wing backs John Gabler and Preston Henry.

On defense are ends Mike Keller, Tom Huiskens, Cecil Pryor and Al Carpenter; tackles Fred Grambau, Dan Parks, Tom Beckman, Pete Newell and Dick McCoy; middle guards Henry Hill and Al Francis; roving backs Tom Darden and Frank Gusich; linebackers Marty Huff, Dana Coin, Mike Taylor and Ed Moore and defensive backs Brian Healy, Bruce Elliott, Barry Pierson, Tom Curtis and Mark Werner.
