Dennis Paul Hack, a plumber and accomplished local musician, died December 10, 1993, in his Ann Arbor home at the age of 45 of lung cancer. He was born in Ann Arbor on June 21, 1948, the son of Dorothy Sweet Hack and Paul Hack. Dennis attended Ann Arbor Pioneer and Brighton High Schools. After graduation he served honorably in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Returning to Ann Arbor in 1970, he devoted much of his time and considerable talent to music. He was a founding member of the Blue Front Persuaders, and either formed or played with numerous local bands, including Cookin’, the Falons, and Stir Krazy. Dennis also composed and recorded his own music. Dennis is survived by his beloved companion and best friend, Pamela Craven; his sister, Paula Huber, his brother, David Howitt, and David’s wife, Sharon; brothers, Mark Hack, Richard Hack, and Christopher Howitt; his niece, Kimberly Howitt, nephews Brett Huber and Michael Howitt; his parents; and his stepmother, Frances Hack. During his long illness, Dennis received wonderfully supportive care from Pamela “Babe” Craven, his family and friends, and Arbor Hospice. A special thank you goes to Joyce Krantz, Option Care, The Prescription Shop, Abbey Home Health Care and the Veterans Administration Hospital. Dennis, a warm and loving man, was thankful that his illness afforded the opportunity to say goodbye to all his friends and family. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at the MUEHLIG FUNERAL CHAPEL on Saturday, December 18, 1993 at 4 p.m., with Pastor Steve Goodrum officiating. A gathering of friends to celebrate Dennis’ life will be held following the ceremony at the home of James Craven and Adele LaPorte at 959 Forest Rd., Ann Arbor. Memorial contributions to Arbor Hospice, 3810 Packard Rd, Ann Arbor 48103, or to the Humane Society of Huron Valley, 3100 Cherry Hill Rd, Ann Arbor 48105, would be greatly appreciated.
