Gelman makes deal with Texas distributor

Gelman Sciences Inc. has inked a distribution deal with a Texas-based medical supply group that will allow for distribution of a new product line developed for hospital pharmacies in the U.S.

PharmAssure, a new line of medical filtration products from Gelman, will be distributed by the Alliance of Independent Distributors based in Austin, Texas. The firm consist of 12 independent medical supply distributors with about 115 salespeople.

The PharmAssure products will be used filter out particles, bacteria or fungus from intravenous liquid drugs to prevent contamination.

“By working with Alliance, Gelman Sciences gains an experienced distribution network for this new line of products,” said Gelman Sciences Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Charles Gelman, in a statement. “The company is positioned to take advantage of the growth in intravenous therapy, both in hospitals and alternate site healthcare locations.”

Gelman Sciences, based in Scio Township west of Ann Arbor, is a manufacturer of microfiltration products used in healthcare, high tech industries and laboratory research.
