SaqiNaw, Mareh 28. - The fourth anI nuai state convention of the Epworth I League of Michigan begau its uhree ilajrs' session at the Jeffersón Avenue ' Methodist Episcopal church Tuesday afternoon. It will be oue of the uiost successful gatherings in the history of the league, nearly 1,000 delegales being in attendance. President Elvin Swarthout of Grand Rapids called the meeting to order and after devotioual exercises, i preetings in behalf of Sagiiiaw, the Baptist Yotmg Peoples' uuion, the I Young Peoples' Society of Christian Endeavcr aud the leagues of Saginaw I were made. The report of the secretary, D. W. Springer of Ann Arbor, shows the total number of chaptors to be 306, an increase of 18 during the year: active members, 14,386: a-ssociate members, 4.730; total, 18,31ö; an increase of 2.995. The junior league chapter numbers 113, with a uiembership of 6,039. Addresses were made in the evening by Bev. E. P. Patterson of Laneing and Rev. R. T. Savia of Detroit.
