Another Good Plum

Richard Kearns, of this city, was on Wednesday appointed by Collector Phelan, cashier in the office of the United States Internal Revenue Collector at Detroit, an important position to which a salary of $1,500 attaches. There were a number of applicants for the position, including the late cashier of the Preston National bank of Detroit, so that Mr. Kearns' appointment is all the more a compliment to him. He had a very strong indorsement from all paris of the state, having been a very popular chief clerk in the State Land Office in Lansing. His friends in this city congratúlate him.
