All the ptelimiuary arrangements had been made to bold a oook fight in a barn on seotion 32, of Ann Arbor town, abontl1.,, miles beyond the toll gate Satnrday DJgbt and between ñO.and 100 game sports had braved the terrible oonditiou of the roads und gone out there in order to witness the ruain. It was towards ruidnight wheu the haoks, omnibus and carriages started ont for tbe scène of battle. All got tbrough vvith the exception of two hacks which got stuok in the mud a mile away froiu the barn, aud their oconpants waded the balance of the way through the ruud. All their endoavnrs, however, were of no avail as the fight did not come off. Depnties Oanfield, Sweet, Eldert and Hnhu had been dispatohed to the place by Sheriff Jndson to put a stop to the business and their presenoe there was cisoovered before the fight had oommencod. The farm wus oocupied by a man named Seyfried, and tbe barn iu which the fight was to come off had cracks in its sides like tbe openinga in a corn ciib. Iu the center of the floor a sectional pit had been put together, the birds were in readiness and the speotators were perohed around the bain in evsry place of vantage that oonld be fonnd, but tbere the sport euded. One of the persous on watoh reported the presence of the officers near by and the sport was declared off. No arrests were made and the orowd retnrued to the city, some ridiug and some walking, but all mud bespattered, tired and disgueted.
