Maggie Johusou, the l(i years old white girJ who receutly eloped to Windsor, Ont., with Heury Merriinan, a colored yonng mau, aDd there married him, subseqnently going to reside in Detroit, where she was arrested ior the larceny cf a blaok dress skirt, ou the charge of her brother and placed in hidiug at ber own request iu order to keep her away f rom Meriiniau's inflnence, was arraigued before Justice Childs at Ypsilanti, Tuesday ruorning. Connty Agent Green having found that the court wonld only have jurisdrotiou over the girl for six months, as at the expiratiou of that time ehe would be 17 years of age and could no Jonger be coofined at the Adrián school for girls, reooinmended that Justice Childs snspend sentenoe, which was done. In the meantinae the girl told Mr. Green that she regretted she had ever married her colored htiaband and wonld never have anything more to do with him. and after her release by the conrt retnrued home witb her own folks. Merriniau wauted a chanoe to talk with her, bat tbis conld uot be arraciged, and the two are now separated. Excitement among tho friends of the girl and the man has rnu very high and it is tbought that in the future there may be trouble between them over the matter.
