The following in an extract from a private letter from a southern bishop, mee a "rebel brigadier." It is interesting as illustrating the change of feelings among the classes which we eed to regard with so much suspieion ven twenty years ago: "God grant us honorable peace! It is refreshing to my soul, however, to feel a patriotic throb at my heart towards the old flag and the noble fellows who went down under it at Havana. You can never realize how hard it has been for us 'rebels' after iour years of honest fighting, to be rid oí it, to really love our reunited country; and how grateful it is to feel tfaat, con amore, I would, if need be, fight under Sigsbee, or Miles, pro patria.
