Laying Submarine Mines

Xew York. April 26.- The work of laying subrr.arine mines in the lower bay continúes. Thus far seventy-four miles have been placed in the bay, and it is believed that three times that number will be planted from Fort Wadsworth te Sandy Hook. Should a hostile fleet succeed in passing the Sandy Hook fort they woúld come to grief in the harbor because of the rnines and dangerous reefs.
