Many of our colored citizens who have long faithfally vnted the repulbioan tioket have concluded that while that party has very cheerfully aocepted their votes it has not recognized them when there were any offioes to give out. A cali for a meeting to oonsider the matter has been signed by John J. West, John B. Slater, O. L. Jackson, Arohie Miller, Robert Carson, Stephen Adams, C. W. Gongh, John Preeman, J. T. Forohue, George Beoks and M. W. Gay. The cali is as follows: We, the undersigned colored oitizens of Ann Arbor, together with many others, are dissatisfied witb the amonnt of tecognition which has ' heretofore been aooorded tho oolored vote by the party whiuh they have always supported. So little are we remembered in the distribution of appointments that in no county in the state do oolored men have as few substantial appointments in proportion to the colored vote as do our citizens in this connty. We beleive that this condition of things can only be corrected here as it bas been done in other parts of the state: tbat is, by harmonious, honest, concerted aotion on our part. To bring about snch action, organizatiou is neoeesary. If the party of onr choioe oannot appreoiate loyalty and long-continued faithfulness, there are other parties that will. That this matter may be properly considered and the ueoessaiy aotion taken, we earnestly request all the oolored citizens of Ann Arbor to meet with ue on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 7 :30 p. m. in K. P. hall.
