The party penetrated the wilds of the northwest territory to the confluence of the Hoolotinqui and Thirty mile creek, a distance of 250 miles from Skaguay, where the company have leases on 175 miles of river bottom, from the Canadian government. Mr. Wallace remained eight days at the camp on the Hoolotinqui and witnessed the -washing of much coarse gold and brought back with him many handsome nuggets of the yellow metal which were washed from gravel near the surface.
