Merrimac Hero's Friends Want Him Admitted at Annapolis

Stuart, Ia., Nov. 16.- Efforts are being made to get Deignan into the naval academy at Annapolis, by which Stuart men intend to show that their hero worship is more substantial that sweet girl kisses and receptions. Deignan is a few months too old for admission to the national academy for naval education and special congressional legislation is to be tried. Representative Hager has framed a bill providing that Deignan be permitted to go to the naval academy and Iowa's congressional delegation is expected to work for it.

Sunday evening a reception to Deignan was given by the girls of the L. L. G., the ones who kissed him. Miss Mabel Hackthorne, whom rumor has announced as Osborn Deignan's sweetheart, denies that she is engaged to the much kissed hero. "I honor him," she said, "but as for being his sweetheart or anything like that, there is nothing to it."
