Fred Hooper was in the city last Tuesday. Miss Barbara Zimmer is visiting her parents in Canada. Ilon. J. Webster Childs has gone to Mackinac for a pleasuro trip. J. W. Ela and wifo, of Chicago, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. 6. Bliss this week. Mrs. Co!. Coinstock has returned fiom the cast where she has been spooding the sunimer. Miss Adda Bibbins, of Ann Arbor, is the guest of Mrs. H. W. Calkins.- South Lyon Sentinel. Ex-Gov. Davis, of Texas, was ia the city last weck for the purpose of having his son matricúlate at the university. C. Ed. Worden left last Tuesday for California, whero he goos on business for the firm of Fred'k Stearns & Co., of Detroit. Theodore Pack, formerly of this city, but now upon the Chicago fire department forcé, paid bis paronts and frienda a short visit this week. Mra. Dr. Ililton and faiuily aro about removing to Council Bluffs, Iowa, all necessary arrangements having been perfected for the ehange. Prof. W. H. Butts, of this city, ia to return in a few days to his po&ition at the Orchard Lake military acadeuiy, which roopens on the 15th iaat. Misses Ivnily and Emilino Phillips, of Ann Arbor, are spendinit a few days in town, the guests of their sister, Mrs. H. R. Lowcry. - Laingsburg News. Loren Mills returned on Saturday from his visit cast, where he had been attending the installation services of Kev. II. L. Hubbell, formerly of this city. Prof. F. A. Platt, class of '75, at present an instruotor in the state school for the deaf and dumb, at Flint, was in tho city last Kriday, and a callcr at the Coürier office. Prof. E. Oluey, of the Michigan University, is to conduct tho forthcoming teachers' institute in this village, assisted by Prof. C. F. R. Bellows, of Ypailanti.- Charlevoix Sontinel. Chas. S. McBride, at present in charge of the printing department at the state school for the dcaf and dunib, at Flint, apeut last Sabbath in the eity, the gucst of Mr. and Mrs. Qeo. H. Pond. Ilon. J. II. Wescott, of Homer, Calhoun county, has been spending sevcral days with his daughtor, Mrs. W. O. Doty, in this city. He will visit Loadville Col., after completing his stay here.
