As tliia i the fint appearance in the West of the Original Spanisli Studente, many of our readers will probably be interesled in knowing sometliiiig of the oharaoter of the troupe and of its previons history. The compsny oiiginated iu 1K7Ö amotig the students of the principal college of Madrid, Spain. They ere tirst bronifht proniinently IntQ notlee at the Paris Kxposition, where their novel and charming miisic beeame oxceedingly popular. They thereupon undertook a tour through the principal Eiii'opean cites, where their conrerts were n every case a great success. Their costuine ia attractive and picturesque, consisting oí a black velvet blouse, a cloak thrown over the right shouldcr, velvet knee-breeches, silk stockings, shoes with large silver buckles, and stndent hats adorned with the ivory spoon, which has for ages been worn by 8panish students to indícate that they belonged to the educated clasa. They play upon guitars and mandoline, which have sixteen and twelve strings respectively. Their program comprises Spanisli airs, waltzes, national dances, an) operas. The 3tudents will be aecompanieil by the following Boston soloists: Miss Abbie E. Hervey, soprano; Mr. Wm. II. Stedman, tenor; Miss Annat L. Hu ves, pianiste. The concert will be held In University Hall, Saturday evening, Jami.iry I8th.
