The readers of the English Illustrated Magazine will be Interested to learti that witli the new volume, beginin Octobcr, Mr. H. I). Trnill will contribute a moiithly article of critscism on matters literary, social, and artistic. A paper on "Personal RemlalKeneei of Charles Dickens" will also apptar in an early nuinber and this will be followed liy a series of letters of Charles Dickens, never before published. Fiction will be representad by Prol'. Minto, who contriluites un historical novel under the title of '-The Mediation of Ralph Hardelot," and there will be stories by Mrs. Jlolesworth, li. L. Fiirjeon, J. 8. Winter, and otlurs. In poetry the editor proinises contribiitions from Mr. Swinburne and Mr. Geo. Meicditli lor the early numbn, To its illustruted articles fpeciul attentlon will be given.
