Judgmg from the number of recipes in voguo, we sliould say that ' eatchup " could be mado of any vegetable that growa, as well assundry other things that are not ranked as vegetables - the geueral formula being : Plenty of all sorts of strong spices, and a suiall quantity of anything elso you chooso, from a tomato to a green walnut, or boiled bass-wood chips. (Green walnuts, or butternuts, by thu way, do make good catolmp ns well as good pieklcs ) An excellent housekeoper of our acquaintance furnishes for the Agriculiurüt the latest recipe for catchnp, Baid to be very good; to-wit: Take green cucumbers ; paro and chop vtrp fine ; sprinklo on salt, and iet them star.d an hour or bo ; put into a strong cloth, and press out all the liquid possible ; put the fine picces remainiiig iuto bottle, and add viuegar, black pnpper, and salt. - Cork tightly and set asido for use. - Small bottlcs are prcferable, so that only a sraall quantity nced be opened at a time, as it molds after much exposuro to tbc air.
