Sorrow weeps ! And drowna its bitterness in tears ! My child of sonow Weep out the fullness of thy passionate grie And drown in tears The bitterness of lonely years. God g!ve the rain and :unshine mild, And both are best my cliild! Joy WeepsJ And overflows its banks witli tears : My cliild of joy, Weep out the gladnesa rf my pent-heait, And let tl y glistening eyes Run over in their ecstacks; Life needeth joy ; but from on high Descends what cannot die ! Love weeps ! And feeds its silent life witb. tears ; My child of love, Pour out the riches of thy yearning heart, And, like the air of even, (jive and take back the dew of heaven, And let tbat louginn heart of thine Feed upon thy love divine.
