For a sidewalk on the south side of Jefforson Street, between Stato and Divisvons streets. To Sidewalk Committee. For the opening of ari alléy funning from Liberty to William streets, between Main and Second streets. To Street Committee. From Chief-Eugineer Sanford, recommending the purchase ior the Fire Department of the following: One extensión ladder, two Babcock small engines, and 500 feet of Bubber Hose. To Aid. Deubul, Khodes, and Wood. From the Fire Department, asking the oonfirmation of the following officers. Chief-Enffincer-B.. J. Snnford. First Assistant-C. H. Worden. Second Assistant- John O'Brien. Which nominations were confirmed, Chief-Engineer reported an orgttilization of il Fire Company in the Fifth Ward to be known as Huron Fire Company. Organization approved. Pay rolls of Belief and Protection Fire pames leeré received and referred to i manee Jomuiittee. Communication Yai received frora Citieons' Committee ou "Water-Works and consideration of same postponed to Friday evoning. Resignation of Geo. Haarer, Constable elect of the Second Ward, was received and occeptod, and ou iuotion of Aid. Lutz, Thos. F. Leonard vvas elected to fill the vacaney. Report of the Board of Health was received, and on motion the Recorder was authorized to borrow moneys at not to dxceed 10 per cent, interdst, for paymeiit of billa audited by Board of ïealth, as follows : J. W. Cully, services at hospital, - ?165 J. A. Davis, " " " - 33 Aid. Leland moved that a grade be estabüshed of the streets of the cityi under the directiou of he Street Committee. Carried. On motion of Aid. Mclntyrn, Wm. H. Fuller was appointed City Engineer and Survcyor. Öu motion of Aid. Leland the Recorder was equested to report the ñames of all saloon keepers who have not paid their license dues for he present quarter ; also the nanies of all perons keeping saloons without a license; Aid. Rogers gave notice that a womah was unning a saloon near the depot without a lietise. A verbal report of special committee was made, recommendmg purchase of IX acres of and at S650, for enlargement of Fifth Ward Cemetcry. Referred to Aid. Rhodes and Wood, and City Attorney to investígate title. The Coüncil then proceeded to the elBCtion of a Marshal, and on the eocond ballot James J Parshall received a majority of the votes and was declared elected. Martin Seabolt wa3 On motion, afpointed Pound Master in the Fiftli Ward. Adjourned to Friday oveningi May 9.
