Streets - Submittmg a report iu favor of the extensión oí Moiuoe street eust to Wanhtenaw avenue, in Sixth ward, together with a resolution desoribiug the boundaries of such extenaion. General Fund-ln favor of the erection of street lamps on corner of Ingalls and Gdtharine streets, on corner of South University and Twellth streets, and on corner of Monroe and Twelfth streets ; and ayanist the erection of street lamp ou corner of Hill and Thayer street. By the same, in favor of the appropriatiou of the suin of (200 from general iuud for the purpose of purchasing a lot at the intersection of Liberty aud First streets, for the improvenieut of Liberty atreet. Bogers: Kesolution- In favor o the appropnation of $100 ïroni the genera funii, and $100 froai the general street tund, to aid in graveling Detroit street. Adopted. Leave being granted, W. H. Besimer addressed the Counoil in iavor of a modification of the grade for sidewalk, in front of bis residence, o west side of Fourth street, claiming the established grade unnecessarily low and would resu'.t in the destruction of his tine shade trees. Matter referred to the Sidewalk Committee with power to modify such grade By Aid. Kiug : Directing the Marshal to cause the removal of dead shade trees along ihe streets of the city. Adopted. By the same: Res jlution - Empowering the Street Committee to obtain a release of the right of way for extensión of Monroe street by gift, and to negotiate for the parchase of such jart as canuot be obtained by gift. Adopted. By Aid. Ferdon : To rescind resolutiou hereto adopted directiug the Street Committee to receive bids for repairing fallen bridge on Spring street, aud that the bridge be repaired uuder the direction of the Strest Committee. Adopted. By Aid. Doty : That City Treisurer be directed to cancel all warrants paid by him, and that he be furuished with a suitabie cauceling tamp" for that purpose. A dopted. By the sume : Directing the Treasurer to ilace to the credit of the contingent fund the amount of money 1 itely received by him in art payment of the deflciency in the acount of S. M. Webster, former City Treasurer. Adopted. By the same : In favor of appointmeut of committee to determine the amountof denciency in the account of S. M. Webster, f ormer Treasurer, aud to aêcertain whether his boudsmeu are williug to amicably atrange and settle for amount that may be found due. Adopted, Mayor Kiane ca' led the atteution of the Council to the oondition of the fence around the Court House Square, and urged that immediate steps be taken for improving its appearance, by removiug the present fence and substituting therefor either a new fence or a curbstone with a new sidewalk around the square. He thought the city had long enough been disgraced by the unsightly appearance of the old fence, and regarded the proposed improvemeut one of the best iuvestments that the city can make. The matter was referred to the Oeueral Fund Committee, for investigation, and to obtain permission from the County authorities to make such improvement, and to report at next meeting.
