Attempted Burglary
-Duriiig Suuday night last James Uonovan, who sleeps over the atore of hia father, Patrick Doüovan, in the Fifth ward, heard burglars at work at the rear door of the store, which was fastened (as the burglars probably knew) by a bar across the inside. Coming below he could see light coming through the hole which the Dit had made, and hear the cutting oi a knife which was beiug used to eularge it. While waiting the entrance of the outsiders, hatchet and club in hand. the work ceased aud the workers ran away. Donovan got to a window in time to see two men go over the fence. A bit stolen from a neighboring shop was found on the platform next moruing. It is to be regretted that Jim did n't bag the game.
