The regular meeting of the Council was held on Monday evening with a iull attendance of members, and the following business transacted : TETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS. Of J. P. Little and othera, for construction oí oistern for fire purpoaes, at j unction of Cemetery and Church streets, tíixth wardB. To General Fund Committee. Of B. A, Beal and othera, for construction of oistern for fire purposes, at corner Main and Catharine streets. To same committee. Of G. W. Palmer and others, for erection of sheet lamp at corner of North Main and Chubb streets. To same committoe. From Gottlieb Schaible, repreaenting that Iib is sick, keeps a stable at the upper eud of Second street fnr the accommodation. of farmers, that he canuot secure a nenessary uuniber of customers uniese they can obtain their lager beer at his preinises ; has ft horror of becoming a city charge, which will be the result if the prosecution which has been commenced is porsisted ïu, and therefore asks that the suit for collection of saloon licfinse be postponed until he shall regain his health, when he will pay the city every dollar its due. City Attorney, in relation to the reuewal of the sidewalk on Pontiac street, between railroad and river bridge, reported that in his opinión the city could not ibmpel suuh renew al at expense of propertyjOWuers along the line, for the reason that the walk is not located on the sidewalk hmits, the preliminary proceedings uever having beon had, was originally built by subscnption by citizens, not for the benefit of the property but as a public ueceasity. Also, that the High atreet matter had been satisfactorily settled. The Marshal reported the number of arrests iuring the month of May : Violation of aaloon ordinance, 1 ; drunk and diaorderly, 5 ; Jisorderly, 1 ; vagrancy, 3 -total, 10. The Treasurer submitted statement of funds in his hands : Keceipts during past month, f 148.75 ; expended, $802.49 ; amount in treasury, 1,511.96. BEPOETS OF C0MMITTEK9. Finance - Beporting bilis allowed against ;hs several funds. amounting to the following mms : General street fund, $465.76 ; general fund, $246 50 ; contingent, $268.15; lst ward, B106.04 ; 2d ward, $60.01 ; 3d ward, $268.23 ; Ith ward, $126.90 ; 6th ward, $194.83. Special- By Aid. Beaiemer, recommending ;he relaying of the gutter parement on north lide of Huron street. Accepted and adopted. By Aid. Woodruff, submittmg speciflcations :or foot-bridge on Pontiac street, between rail■oad and river, and recommending that the ld walk be immediately removed on account )f its dangerous condition. Accepted, and ommittee continued with iull power to act, md to cause the rebuilding of such walk, eithr by compromise with the property owners or it expense ot city, MI8CELLANEOUS. By Aid. Page, that the bondsmen of A. A. Cerry, City Treesurer, for year 1876, be disiharged. Agreed to. By Aid. Sprague, that General Fund Comnittee be authorized to procure one dozen itreet lamps from the Cleveland Lamp Comauy. Agreed to. By Aid. Page, that Sidewalk Committee be equested to turnish City Attorney with a list f dilapidated sidewalka, and those in need of epair, that he may be able to commence pro;eedings for their renewal ; and that City At;oruey be authorized to procura a supply of aecessary blanks. Agreed to. By Aid. Gott, that Aldermen Woodruff and Page be appointed committee to ascertain the ;ause of the diacrepancy between the statenents of the Eecorder and Treasurer of the ;ity funds. Agreed to. Adjourned to Moiiday evening, June 18th.
