There lias been, indeed, during my own memory, a series of defalcations in the banks of of this city which would make a burglar's rnouth water, since in but one case wns tliere any punishment. The Bank of the State of New York lost $500,000 by the fraud of its officers, who retained the plunder with perfect immunity.- Neio York letter.
