The State of Maryland has built a tt'ork-honse for tramps, near Baltimore. t a eost of $324,000, upon a plot of BTound 560 fect long aud 300 wide, snrrounded by a high wall. The interior is made tip of workshops and cells. The statute for commitrnent reads : " It shall be the duty of every Justioe of the Peaoe of the State to canse to be nrrested and, on due proof, to commit any vagrant, or habi'ually disordeily person, not insane, to tbis institution for a perĂ¯od of not less than two nor more than six months."
