A Xew York paper refera to Edward Einstein, Congressman-elect from the Seventh district, as the second Israelite who has been eleoted to Congress from that city. The first was Emanuel H. Hart, elected in 18G1. Henry M. Phillips, a prominent Hebrew oí Philadelphia, was elected to Congress in 1857 and re-elected in 1859. Boston eleeted Leopold Morse to the present Congress and hasre-eleoted him. There have been two Israelites in the Senate. Judah P. Benjamin, of Louisnmn. served from 1851! to 1861, when he withdrew, and snbsequently took a part in the Eebellion. David L. Yulee, of Florida, was eleeted for three successive i terms, serving from 1845 to 1861. He, too, was prominent in secession. He was a political prisoner in Fort Pulaski in 1865, but was released in 18fi6.
