The vaquero, who a -,-.s drunk, luaibled from his horse as he attempted to turn the funous animal. At this moment Miss Lawrence came along, and takiug in the situation at a glance sprang into the vacant sadele, ran down the wild steer, threwher shawl over its head just as it was about to gore the child, and, taking advantage of the confusión of the beast, rode up to the child, and without leaying her saddle reached to it and lif ted it to her lap and then carried it off in safety.
