Two wiynen and seven min arrested yesterday on charges of selling heroin remain in the County Jail today under one of the heaviest individual bonds ever ordered in a criminal case in Washtenew County. The defendants were arraigned yesterday before Ann Arbor District Court Judge S. J. Elden. Each suspect demanded a court examination on the felony charge and the judge set that proceeding for April 7 in six of the cases. In the remaining three cases he ordered the defendants to return to the court on April 9. The later date was given when the three defendants asked to have time to consult an attorney of their own choosing. Other defendants requested the court appoint defense attorneys for them and Judge Elden granted those requests. Then Judge Elden set bonds for each defendant at $40,000 and remanded them to the County Jail when they were unable to post the bonds. The three defendants who requested additional time to consult an attorney were Mortimer Patterson Jr., 33, of 613 N. Fifth Ave. and 11912 E. Ann St. who is charged with selling heroin at the Ann St. address on March 8; Larry J. Pickett, 25, who pólice say sold heroin at his apartmnt at 1440 Pear St. on March 25; and Ricky Cole, alias Frank Flanagan, alias Rickey Flanagan, 35, charged with selling heroin in the 200 block of E. Ann St. on Feb. 24. Cole's last known address was 622 N. Main St. He was arrested yesterday at the Ramada Inn, 2880 Jackson Ave. Mrs. Lucy L. Luckett, 39, and her 19year-old son, Ronald, are both charged with selling heroin at their housing project apartment, 701 N. Maple Rd., Mrs. Luckett on March 3 and her son on March 18. Robert Presberry, 33, of 110 E. Davis St., sold heroin in an apartment at 119 E. Ann St. on March 17, pólice charge, and they say Frank Jones, 52, sold the drug at the Ramada Inn on Jackson Rd. on March 25. Officers say Jones' wife, Margaret, 43, sold heroin at the project complex where the Lucketts live, 701 N. Maple Rd., and that that sale occurred on Feb. 24. The ninth defendant, Tommie Lee Perkins, 44, of 2702 Arrow wood Dr. on the city's north side, is charged with selling a quantity of heroin at 616 N. Fifth Ave. on March 30. Pólice Chief Walter E, Krasny has declined to reveal the amount of heroin which was sold or to comment further on details of the arrests. He said yesterday, however, that the defendants have been identified as "major suppliers" of heroin circulating in Washtenaw County.
