Teach-in On Race Set At Tappan

A "Teach-In On Race Relations" will be held at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at Tappan Junior High School. The evening will feature five workshops between 8 and 9:30 p.m., a photography display, an art display, a book sale and musical entertainment by "The Parasonics," a local singing group. The keynote address will be made by Mrs. Walter Webb, a Tappan parent. All of the workshops wül provide for audience participation . ; - "Policy Negotiations." Par icipants will be Tappan studente. Moderator: Henry Walace, Center for Teacher and Leacning Coördinator. - " W h a t ' s Wrong W i t h School" - a panel discussion. I Participants will be Hurón High] School students. Moderator: Henry Johnson, Ann Arbor Board of Education trustee. -"Design For Failure" - a dialogue on the handicaps of inadequate elementary and sec- jondary education. Partieipants will be Percy Bates, U-M professor of education; Rosalind McCIendon, U-M instructor of education; James Buntin, U-M research assistant, School of Education. Moderator: Miss Evelyn Moore, assistant to the dean, U-M School of Education. -"Teaching Our Children" - a panel discussion by teachers and administrators of the Ann Arbor Public Schools. Participants will be Gwen Baker, L a w t o n Elementary School teacher; Harry Mial, principal of Northside School; Collier Owens, assistant principal of Slauson Junior High, Mary T a y 1 o r , helping teacher a t Pattengill Elementary, and Victor Turner, compensatory counselor, Forsythe Junior High. Moderator: Claude Johnson, Tappan parent and president of the Pattengill ParentTeacher Organization. -"The Problems of dice"- a film. Moderator: Mrs. Joan Adams Hogan, chairman of the Washtenaw County Office of Economie Opportunity. A photography display will be presented by Ann Arbor News photographer Cecil Lockard. An art display will be the work of local artist Jon Lockard.
