Elgin, Ilis., Sept. 17.- A report that three persous had been drowned in the Fox river near Basswood island Friday was eorroborfl'ta iraturday. They were Walter Grantham, of Chicago, aged 21; bis sister, Maria Grantham, aged 22; and Mrs. Sidney Rogers, a bride of six weeks, who was 19. Grantham and his sister were visiting tbe Rogers, who were relatives, and suggested going fishing. The Rogors farm is on the river, and from his work the young husband could sea tbe party. Looking up an hour afterward he saw the upturned boat. He hurried to the rescue, but the occupants had sunk. Four hours 'afterward the young women were fouud locked in each others arms in twenty feet of water. The body of tho brother was found sonie feet away.
