Winter sports fans at the Caberfae like to talk about the deep-dipping toboggan slide there, where averages of 52 miles an hour are normally attended. Earlier in the winter the toboggans were zooming down at 60 and more miles an hour, and safety-minded Caberfae sponsors tamed down the slide.

READY FOR THE START: Residents of Charlevoix find winter fun in utilizing the snow-season resources with which the city is endowed. Here is a load of youngsters preparing for a dash down the long coasting hill within the city. Outside the city there are still longer coasting runs and favorable terrain for skiing. Charlevoix also has carefully tended ice for skating, but as yet few visitors from other localities come to use the city's resources.

Skillful riders can take the little skooters down winding courses and over jumps. The two pictured above are racing down one of the hills surrounding Petoskey's snow bowl, the in-city winter sports center.
