Her audience, who recited the rhyme in unison later, took turns saying familiar poems. One of the first things they learned was to raise their hands when they wanted to answer.

In this class, taught by Miss Jeanne Wright, pupils responded by joining a circle on the floor around the piano. First question asked by the teacher was "What day of the week is this?" Nobody knew; but everyone agreed it was Thursday after Miss Wright suggested it.
