Davidson Jr. Jan Taylor, Charles Loeb, and Lujuana Tucker (left to right) rehearse their parts in the production, which is scheduled for 8p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Slauson Junior High. Tickets will be available at the door.

HISTORY LESSON - Children from the Sunday school of Bethel A.M.E. Church watch history being made in Ann Arbor as Plum Street is renamed Sunday to honor the late Rev. John A. Woods. The Ann Arbor City Council voted last month to rename the street after a petition drive by members of the church. Woods is the first African-American in Ann Arbor to have a street named for him. Former Mayor Al Wheeler, City Councilwoman Ann Marie Coleman along with members and friends of the church spoke during the ceremony Sunday. The Rev. C. Wesley Gordon is now pastor of Bethel.

A luncheon at the Michigan Union was given by the Board of Education to honor Mrs. Mitchell and all past presidents of the Pittsfield School District No. 9. The portrait was painted by local artist Jon Lockard and was presented by the Mitchell Parent-Teacher Organization to the school during an open house held last night to honor Mrs. Mitchell. Yesterday was Mary D. Mitchell Day at the school. The veteran educator retired in 1949 after 30 years in the teaching profession.

"Spike" Briggs, jr., as he ascended the pitching mound at the Briggs athletic field at Ypsilanti Normal yesterday afternoon. Briggs, at the right, threw a perfect strike on the first pitch to Charley Pink, Michigan lead-off man in the baseball game with the Hurons. It was all a part of the ceremonies which attended the dedication of the $150,000 athletic plant which Walter Briggs, sr., donated to Michigan State Normal. Shown at the left is James M.
