CHILLY? NOT AT ALL: One of the virtues of most winter sports is that the vigorous activity keeps the participant relatively warm. Miss LaVerne Conant, pictured on a Traverse City skating rink, said that only her hands got cold. Figure skating is becoming an increasingly popular winter activity at Traverse City.

LAUGHING AT OTHERS is an accepted part of winter fun. Half way up a hill, these three Traverse City lassies paused to watch some one else come down. In the past, winter sports at Traverse City have centered around skating, but the Traverse City Winter Sports Club is beginning to place emphasis on the development of facilities for skiing. One of the reasons for this is that Traverse City, with a wide reputation as a recreation center, receives scores of inquiries from ski enthusiasts in other states who want to come to Michigan for winter sports.

Description

"Cantando Choir" was the name selected for a newly organized group of girls singing under Miss Grentzer's baton. Starting at the beginning of the second semester, the choir met every day. It had quite a sizable list of members chosen on the same basis as that of A Cappella; that is, by try-outs.

Besides participating in the operetta, assemblies and community programs, the group presented entertainment - music and skits - for the men of the station hospital at the Willow Run Air Base.

Cantando's officers were Jerry Herman, manager, Dottie Dice, assistant manager; and Mary Kokales, secretary-treasurer.
